Are you looking for opportunities to further expand your leadership skills? Do you have ideas for how to better connect young professionals around DC? Do you enjoy planning events or managing social media tools? If you’ve answered yes, now is the time to get more involved in the local international education community and apply to join the yPIE Board of Directors by June 1.
Over the past year, the yPIE in DC LinkedIn group gained more than 200 members, which brings our total membership to nearly 700. The yPIE Board is excited by this growth, and has decided to add extra spots to our board to help us plan more events and content. We want to provide new ways for fellow young professionals to discuss emerging trends and issues, share career opportunities, and develop new skills.
I know I’m speaking for the whole yPIE Board when I say that we are sad to see Marc St. Hilaire and Sarah DeNapoli leave the board. We wish them the best as they pursue their new adventures. Now we are turning to the yPIE membership for your talent, leadership, and volunteer spirit to keep the momentum going. We’re currently recruiting for board members to be appointed for a one-year term from July 2016 until July 2017, and have vacancies on two committees:
Communications Committee: We are looking for individuals who are excellent writers and editors and have experience building websites, writing html, and managing social media.
Events Committee: We are looking for individuals who are organized, self-starters, comfortable negotiating with vendors, and can execute an idea into a successful event.
