Committees

Our work is guided by the yPIE DC mission and the Board of Directors.

Chair

The responsibilities of the yPIE DC Board Chair are to:

  • Lead Board on strategic planning and action items; manage retreats and other planning sessions.
  • Directly support other committee members in their work; may serve as a co-lead on certain activities and events where necessary
  • Provide leadership to Board, setting policies and approving actions where appropriate
  • Review and mediates governance issues of the Board as they arise
  • Promote awareness of yPIE DC including the recruitment of new members, partner organizations, and future Board members
  • Work with yPIE DC committees to work towards accomplishing yPIE DC’s goals in service of the organization’s mission

Membership

The responsibilities of the yPIE DC Membership Committee are to:

  • Cultivate and maintain a membership base that represents diversity and breadth of international education field in the Washington, DC metro area, serving entry level through mid-level international education professionals
  • Field questions and concerns from the membership, actively seek out and listen to member needs, and ensure that they are presented in programming and services
  • Manage the application and acceptance process for new board members
  • Evaluate  membership trends and utilize data to inform yPIE DC strategic planning
  • Develop a strategic plan for the growth of yPIE DC membership and organizational capacity, including but not limited to conducting research about becoming a 501c3 and franchising
  • Cultivate a relationship with other national international education professional development organizations, such as BayPIE, World Denver, etc.
  • Work with yPIE DC committees to work towards accomplishing yPIE DC’s goals in service of the organization’s mission

Events

The responsibilities of the yPIE DC Events Committee are to:

  • Lead and coordinate the execution of regular social and topic events throughout the year
  • Propose and secure appropriate venue space for yPIE DC events including collaborating with host organizations on event logistics (e.g., food, beverages)
  • Cultivate relationships with vendors and other appropriate contacts for events
  • Ensure that yPIE DC presents a warm and welcoming experience for all our members at events
  • Work with yPIE DC committees to work towards accomplishing yPIE DC’s goals in service of the organization’s missioN

Communications

The responsibilities of the yPIE DC Communications Committee are to:

  • Manage yPIE DC’s branding to promote its mission and reach new and existing audiences
  • Build and maintain communication tools such as the yPIE DC website and social media, to promote yPIE DC membership, events, and services
  • Foster online conversations about the latest trends in international education by sharing news articles on social media
  • Disseminate information through social media, newsletters, contacts and relevant listservs to promote events and other organizational information
  • Maintain and update the editorial calendar
  • Produce blog content and offer yPIE DC members and other international education partners the opportunity to guest blog
  • Work with yPIE DC committees to work towards accomplishing yPIE DC’s goals in service of the organization’s mission
